By the end of 2012 majority of Indian cinema screens will be converted to digital. There will be
developments focussed on either 4k capture or higher frame rate resolution or even both. It is
clear that the cinema viewing experience will get better with time. Higher Frame Rate @ 48fps
and 60fps, pursued by filmmakers like James Cameron (Avtaar2and 3) and Peter Jackson (The
Hobbit) allows for displaying fast action stereo content. The revised industry standards could
either enhance to 4k or prefer to go with higher frame rate content (48fps and beyond). A great

Speaker:
Clyde DeSouza
Stereoscopic 3D capture and presentation of a scene allows for the next best thing to actually being there. A 3D presentation of a location is really a “Simulation” of that location… and comes alive when viewed in 3D. So can we use Stereo 3D to engineer emotions in an audience? Blur the line between real and the story world of a Film? Are today's movies exploiting the potential of this new-medium of Visual Storytelling? Hollywood only now seems to be “getting it” with films such as Hugo and Prometheus, What about...India with it's rich heritage of storytelling, can 3D bring these stories alive? Can Bollywood show everyone how it's done?
